Celebrating 15 Years of Mighty Crow: A Gratitude Retrospective
We recently celebrated milestone here at Mighty Crow - 15 years in business. While we’ve shared the story of how we started in a garage office back in 2011, we haven’t always talked about the support and encouragement that got us off the ground. As we celebrate this recent accomplishment, I am looking back with deep gratitude for the many people who have been a part of our journey.
To be very honest, when Mighty Crow started, I was not sure what the future would hold. I had been working at the same organizaiton since finishing graduate school. That first year as a professional inthe field quickly turned into 12. I actually started to think I might never leave that job. But life has a way of changing things in ways that shake us up, force us to grow, and sometimes, take a leap of faith. That's the very succinct version of what happened in 2011, which laid the foundation for what we have built today.
What got me through that very difficult year of transition was people- caring, kind, loving, supportive people.
When I decided it was time to leave and try something totally new, it was also people that carried me through the uncertainty- caring, kind, loving, supportive people.
The first calls we received at the company were from friends and colleagues - caring, kind, loving, supportive people who trusted us enough to give us a shot at working with them.
Nearly every client we have had over the last 15 years has come through a relationship - either directly or as a referral through a friend. The sacred nature of these relationships is one that I take very seriously - especially in instances where someone has referred another person to us. I am so grateful for each client and each project we’ve worked on, and for everyone who has trusted us to be their partner.
My goal in any project - no matter the size - has always been to do our best for our client. In our company handbook, we open with a statement about our values:
“At Mighty Crow we value hard work, dedication, expertise, and commitment to quality. We also value kindness and compassion. We value diversity in our perspectives and a willingness to learn together. We seek to grow and change along with our community.”
These values have driven us for the last 15 years and they will continue to drive us for the next 15.
We’ve spread our wings a bit from that initial office in a garage in Columbus, with our clients list, collaboration partners and even our core team growing by the year and now reaching into multiple states. As in-person meetings are are increasingly replaced by video calls Zoom and Teams, it’s still the personal connections and that matter the most. Our work of helping people who help other people is needed everywhere, and we’re excited when new opportunities are brought forth.
If you have been a part of our journey, please know that we are grateful - and that I am grateful. Every client teaches us something new. Every relationship helps us grow. Every opportunity presents us with a chance to contribute. None of these things happen without people - caring, kind, loving, supportive people. I am so grateful to get to do the work that Mighty Crow does with have a talented and dedicated team and an incredible group of clients. Here’s to another 15 years!
